The Immunisation Foundation of Australia was established by the family of Riley Hughes, who have become vocal advocates of immunisation after the death of their son from whooping cough in 2015.

Our Story:

From Personal Tragedy to Powerful Advocacy

The Immunisation Foundation of Australia (IFA) was born from a profound personal loss. In 2015, our founders, Catherine and Greg Hughes, tragically lost their son, Riley, to whooping cough. Out of their heartbreak, they found a powerful voice for change. They believed in the importance of parents and community members standing up for immunisation to protect others from similar suffering. This belief became the foundation of our work.

We started by transforming this personal experience into powerful advocacy. This unique approach, which combines personal narratives with scientific evidence, has allowed the IFA to create compelling campaigns that build understanding and trust in immunisation.
