INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATION FOR
 IFA ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP 2002

Please read the following instructions thoroughly before completing the attached application form. Enclosed are the IFA Code of Practice and Code of Ethics and the IFA Constitution you must read these before signing the application form.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS OF MEMBERSHIP

bulletAnatomy and Physiology - Professional training minimum of 100 hours recognized by the NCMAHP or full qualification in another modality, i.e. Nurse, Naturopath.
bulletMassage - Professional training minimum of 100 hours recognized by the NCMAHP, unless fully qualified in an additional modality, i.e. Nursing, Naturopath.
bulletAromatherapy - Graduating certificate equivalent training of 180 hours for associates fully trained in aromatherapy equivalent content to current syllabus, or 100 hours for those trained in another modality equivalent content to current syllabus excluding aromatherapy massage component.
bulletAdditional Modality - Graduating certificate / diploma in another health care modality.
bulletInsurance cover - It is compulsory that all associate members of the IFA are covered for blending their own essential oils as well as Aromatherapy professional indemnity cover. The insurance policy must also include public liability covering minor mishaps occurring on your premises or whilst visiting. Additional modality coverage that recognises the aromatherapy practice is acceptable. A copy of cover must be provided.
bulletFirst Aid - IFA Associate members must hold a current workplace First Aid Certificate (Level 2 /senior)
bulletObtain 10 hours of ongoing professional development (OPD) each year
bulletRenew malpractice insurance (professional indemnity and public liability) annually
bulletRenew workplace first aid certification on expiry (valid for three years)

PAYMENT WITH APPLICATION

Payment of the application fee and membership fee must accompany this application. Payments should be by cheque, money order or credit card (Visa, Bankcard, MasterCard). Cheques or money orders should be made payable to the "International Federation of Aromatherapists" and drawn in Australian currency.

The IFA will immediately bank the payment received with the application, but this does not constitute an acceptance of the applicant’s qualification. In the event that the application is unsuccessful, the payment will be refunded except for the application fee.

CERTIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS

Each photocopy of a document submitted as evidence of qualification must be made from original documents. Each such photocopy must be shown to an authorized person who will, on the face of each sheet, certify ‘I certify that this document is a true copy of original which I have seen’, sign next to the certification and provide identification.

The following are authorized persons acceptable for certification of "true copies":

bulletFull members of the International Federation of Aromatherapists, who should provide their name and membership number as identification
bulletOfficers of an Australian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate Overseas. An official stamp must accompany the signature as identification.
bulletA Justice of the Peace or a Commissioner for Declarations in Australia whose full name and address or registered number should also be shown as identification.

LODGEMENT

Applications should be sent by mail to the IFA. Please help us to process your application by ensuring that you apply for the category of membership for which you are eligible and that you have complied with all the requirements.

IN CONCLUSION

The IFA looks forward to welcoming new members and confirming such with qualification documents. Should a person be declined membership the IFA recommends further study where necessary or joining the IFA in a different category until all requirements are reached. When applying for membership please include all the necessary documentation with the application form. This will speed up the process considerably and assist us in processing your application quickly. All applications are considered with due care and consideration.

RENEWAL

Membership is renewable January 1st of each year. A renewal notice is sent to all members and payable no later than 28th February of each year to maintain membership.
